About Laura Marquit

Laura has run a Pilates-based movement studio, Joyful Movement, for 25 years. She created the Wake Up Warm Program after years of working with people suffering from back, spinal, and hip pain.

First based in San Francisco, and re-located to Marin County, CA, Laura has helped hundreds of people with back, spinal and hip pain return to a pain free life.

As a Master Level Certified Pilates Instructor and a Certified Coach, CPCC, I have devoted the last 25 years to helping people heal from pain and injury. I have studied Pilates, Yoga, Feldenkrais, Qi Gong and other forms of movement for 35 years, while also studying the deeper roots of how people can heal through movement. I have done extensive training in mind-body relaxation techniques and somatic education.

The Wake Up Warm Up program has helped thousands of people heal from back, spinal, hip and neck issues, while also relaxing their nervous systems.

I received my initial Pilates Certification from Madeleine Black and have trained with Kathy Grant, Cara Reeser, Jean Claude West, Jean Sullivan, Margaret Tappan and Ashley Beldon and others. I have attended trainings at Spirit Rock and have done workshops with many teachers including Taylor Rechtenstaffen and Dana DePalma.

I use this extensive and varied training and education to help people heal from injury and inhabit their bodies in a relaxed way. I continue to deepen my own practice and teaching techniques every day with clients at the Joyful Movement Pilates and wellness studio.
